Clare joint hurling manager Donal Moloney addressed last nights meeting of Clare GAA, informing delegates that they’d decided as a management team last Monday week to continue without the Cloyne man as part of the backroom team.

The announcement comes in the aftermath of the controversy surrounding Cusack’s decision to provide a character reference for the now convicted child molester Tom Humphries.

Moloney praised Cusack for the commitment he showed to his role with Clare for the last two seasons, having initially been brought in by former manager Davy Fitzgerald.

Cusack formally stepped down from his role with Clare and with Sport Ireland in a statement last evening, with Moloney describing it as a sensitive situation.

The meeting also ratified the county management teams for the coming season, with Moloney and Gerry O’Connor to continue in charge of the senior hurlers, while Colm Collins was officially ratified as senior football manager.

Seamus Clancy will take charge of the Banner’s U20 footballers while John Carmody takes the hurlers at that grade.

Sean Doyle will be Clare U17 hurling manager, while the position of Clare U17 football manager will be filled in the coming weeks.
