The race for the 2018 Clare Senior Hurling Championship gets underway this weekend.

All 8 first round games are down for decision with a triple header in Cusack Park and a double header in Sixmilebridge among the fixtures.

The meeting of Eire Óg and Tulla is one of the games to be played in O’Garney Park, with both sides having reached the last 8 in 2017.

Eire Óg manager Tommy Corbett is warning they face a tough test.

Meanwhile Clarecastle will be looking to ensure they get the win that will see them steer clear of relegation trouble this season.

2017 saw the Magpies contest the relegation final against Feakle where they produced the performance needed to retain their senior status.

Crusheen provide the opposition in the opening round having beaten Clarecastle in the relegation semi final last year.

Manager Pat Healy is hopeful they won’t have to deal with that scenario again.
