Countdown Begins To 2018 Clare Senior Camogie Championship

The 2018 Clare Senior Camogie Championship gets underway this weekend.

8 teams will battle it out for the McMahon Cup with defending champions Inagh/Kilnamona bidding for third consecutive title.

One of those clubs who will be hoping to deny them are Sixmilebridge who boast county stars and All Stars in Maire McGrath and Chloe Morey.

Captain for this season is Slaine Carey, she’s confident they can deliver on their potential.

Meanwhile Scariff/Ogonelloe will be hoping to build on their recent development when they get their years championship underway.

The east Clare combo lost out to eventual winners Inagh/Kilnamona in the semi final last year and open this years campaign against Eire Óg.

Ciara Doyle is a key player for Scariff/Ogonnelloe, she says they’re determined to take that next step.

One of the team hoping to take that crown from the champions are Clooney/Quin who boast county captain Orlaith Duggan among their ranks.

Newmarket is first up for them, and club captain Louise Henchy is confident they can meet that challenge.

Meanwhile Truagh/Clonlara will be looking to build on a successful 2017 when they take on Kilmaley in Round One.

Last year saw the south east Clare side reach the last four of the championship for the first time in their history.

Captain Michelle Caulfield is hopeful they can build on that progress
