Community Shocked Following Tragic Death Of Clare Teens

The death of a young Clare couple is said to have sent ripples through many communities here.

Teenagers Gary Kelly and Delia Keary lost their lives in a head-on collision in Co. Limerick, on a weekend that’s seen multiple tragedies on the roads.

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash near Bunratty, which lead to the death of a fifty-year-old cyclist.

19-year-old Gary Kelly from Ennis and his girlfiriend 18-year-old Delia Keary from Crusheen were travelling to Kerry on Friday evening, when they were involved in a head-on collision near Abbeyfeale.

Garry was pronounced dead at the scene, and Delia passed away from her injuries the following day.

They were among three Clare people who died as a result of road incidents over the past number of days.

In the early hours of Friday morning, Parteen native Paul Hannon lost his life in a collision while he was cycling in Dublin. He was laid to rest in Meelick yesterday.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road crash near Bunratty yesterday.

50-year-old father of two, Des Butler, from the Caherdavin area of Limerick, died after a campervan collided with his bike shortly before noon yesterday on the N18 Limerick to Galway road.

It was the second fatal road crash on Clare roads this month.
