Clare Garda Chief Calls For More Out-Of-Hours Services For Those In Distress

The number of attempted suicides in Clare this year has prompted Clare’s Garda chief to call for more out-of-hours services for those in distress.

Members of the Joint Policing Committee were told that while the number of suicides had decreased from 14 to 11, attempted suicides has risen from 28 to 38.

Garda Chief Superintendent John Kerin says the force works closely with the HSE, but finds itself under increased pressure when services close after 5pm and on weekends.
