Brennan: Clare Must Stay Focused After Historic Cork NFL Win

Clare senior football captain Gary Brennan insists they can’t afford to take anything for granted in their final game of the Division Two campaign.

A 0-14 to 0-12 win over Cork in Pairc ui Rinn moves the Banner onto six points in the league table which should be enough to see them guaranteed of their place in the second tier for 2019.

Two late points from Jamie Malone and David Tubridy saw Clare take a first win on Leeside for 22 years, and gave them a second successive win over the Rebels in the League.

Brennan says they can’t lose focus ahead of their final showdown against Louth

Meanwhile it looks as if the final round of games in Division Two could be moved back a week.

It’s after Down’s scheduled clash with Tipperary in Newry this afternoon was postponed due the weather with the game likely to be refixed for next weekend.

The GAA are set to make a decision on Tuesday.

The meeting of Louth and Meath has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon but the clash of Roscommon and Cavan goes ahead at 2pm.

All today’s Division One games go ahead at 2pm as planned with Galway hosting Dublin, Donegal going to Monaghan and Tyrone making the trip to Mayo.

Last nights win for Kerry over Kildare sees the Lilywhites relegated back to Division Two just 12 months after making the step up to the top tier.
