Appeal For Witnesses After Teen Hospitalised Following Bus Incident

Two separate investigations are underway into an incident involving a bus in South East Clare, which resulted in a teenager being hospitalised.

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 8 o’clock this morning, after a 17-year-old came into contact with a Bus Éireann bus in O’Briensbridge.

The teenager was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where she’s being treated for leg injuries that are serious, but not life threatening.

Bus Éireann says it’s currently “investigating the matter and liaising with Gardaí”, who are carrying out a separate investigation.

There were up to 25 passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident and Speaking with Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill, Inspector David Finnnerty, of Killaloe Garda Station is appealing to those passengers and any other witnesses in the area to contact them:

Statement from Bus Éireann

At approximately 7.45am this morning an incident occurred at O’Brien’s Bridge on the Route 345 (Scariff – Killaloe – Limerick) service.

There were between 20-25 people on-board the service when the incident occurred. A replacement bus was sent to O’Brien’s Bridge for customers travelling to Limerick.

Bus Éireann are currently investigating the matter and liaising with local Gardai.
