Construction work on new schools in Ennistymon could begin before the end of 2019.
A new second level school will replace the three existing schools currently operating in the North Clare town, while a new primary school will also be built.
Funding was first announced for the project in 2014 and planning permission has already been secured.

In the Seanad this week, responding to local Senator Martin Conway, Junior Minister Jim Daly confirmed a pre-tendering process is underway, and that this will be followed by a tendering process which could see works begin next year.
