Simon Cowell has been confronted by the American Idol judge Ryan Seacrest after the judge slammed a finalist.

Seacrest stuck up for viewers favourite Michael Lynche when Cowell branded his performance desperate and corny.

Seacrest then walked off the stage and made a beeline for the the judge's desk before shouting at Cowell to start giving 'constructive criticism'.

After a short while, The normally fearless X Factor judge backed away from the Idol host and told him the situation was getting 'very uncomfortable'
