Coronation Street is heading for the stage.

One of the soap's top screenwriters, Jonathan Harvey, wants to cover all 115 deaths, 37 births and 86 marriages in the 2 hour play to be shown at a theatre in Manchester this August.

None of the current cast members are expected to take part.
