Clare Under 21's dethroned by Tipperary

Clare have relinquished their Munster and All Ireland U21 hurling titles after defeat to Tipperary last evening in a thrilling Munster final by 1-22 to 1-17.
 
Clare trailed at half time by 1-12 to 1-9-Conor McGrath goaling in the opening minutes for the Banner while Michael Heffernan raised Tipperary's green flag in the 26th minute.
 
Tipperary dominated in the middle third throughout  and Clare could not find a way back with Brian O' Meara and John O Dwyer supreme for the Premier County.
 

Banner out to defend Munster title against Tip

Clare take on old rivals Tipperary this evening in the Munster U21 hurling final at Semple Stadium.

Tonight's match is  repeat of the 2008 decider which saw Tipperary claim the Munster title in controversial circumstances.

Clare defeated Limerick 2 weeks  to reach the decider  and  manager  John Minogue says the side  will need to improve from their performance in the Gaelic Grounds.

Clare make two changes for Munster U21 final

 Clare have made two changes to the side which defeated Limerick in the Munster semi final for the Provincial decider tomorrow evening against Tipperary.

There is a new midfield pairing as Sean Collins links with with Nicky O Connel while Liam Markham and Eoin Hayes come in for Shane Golden and Kevin heagney.

Clare U21 hurling captain John Conlon says the memory of the 2008 Munster final won't be the main motivation for the Banner this Wednesday in Thurles.

Clare lost the Munster decider to Tipperary in controversial circumstances two years ago in Cusack park and face Tipperary this Wednesday  in their third successive Provincial decider.

Speaking to Clarefm Conlon says revenge for that result is not the key incentive on Wednesday night.

McNamara competes for Poc Fada Title

Brendan McNamara will be seking to claim the Poc fada title for 2010 this weekend when he competes in the event on Annaverna Mountain Ravensdale

The Scariff man will be taking on 2009 Champion  Gerry Fallon  as well as James Skehill(Galway) the Connacht Champion.

The All Ireland Camogie and Under 16 Poc Fada contests will also take place over the 5km course.

Roundup of Weekend Championship Action

The draw has been made for the quarter finals of the All Ireland Senior Football Championship.

The ties see Meath take on Kildare, Kerry face off against Down, Tyrone play Dublin and Roscommon are in action against Cork.

All four matches are likely to take place next weekend, with times and venues to be confirmed later today.

Miltown claim Cusack Cup

Miltown are the Cusack cup Champions after a 1-7 to 7 points win over Shannon gales last evening in Kilmihil.

The Gaels led at half time by 4 points to three but a goal from Joe Curtin with 12 minutes to go put Miltown a goal ahead by 1-6 to 6 points which the challengers could not reel in.

Banner gear up for All Ireland Decider

Clare camogie fans can look forward to another All Ireland final appearance after the county minor side beat Tipperary to face Galway next month.

Clare overcame the Premier county by 3-11 to 1-10 in Kilmallock which sets them up with Galway in the All Ireland decider in 2 weeks time.

Galway beat holders Kilkenny in the other semi final to book their place in the final.

Wins for Tipp and Cork while Tyrone to meet Dubs in Football Q-finals

First to Gaelic Games and the draw has been made for the quarter finals of the All Ireland Senior Football Championiship. The ties see Meath take on Kildare, Kerry face off against Down, Tyrone play Dublin and Roscommon are in action against Cork

Earlier, at Croke Park, Tipperary beat Galway by 3-17 to 3-16 in the second of the days All Ireland Senior Hurling quarter finals.

Clare to meet Dublin in All Ireland semi final

Clare and Dublin will contest the All Ireland minor hurling semi fianl next month after the Lenister side defeated Antrim today by 3-13 to 1-11.

 An early goal from Daniel McCloskey gave the Ulster side a five-point lead after 13 minutes, before goals from Cormac Costello (2) and Fergal Heavey helped the visitors to victory.

The match has been fixed for the 15th of August.

Waterford and Galway meet  tomorrow in the other q-final to see who will meet Kilkenny in the other semi final.
