It seems more people are considering cremation as an alternative to traditional burial, and wishing for their cremated remains to be scattered in a location that holds a special meaning for them and those they love.  On The Today Show Gavin Grace spoke with a Clare man who’s come up with a unique service for those, especially those in the Irish diaspora, who want their remains scattered in “the old country”. Your Final Journey is a service set up by Bunratty man Kevin Walker, a dedicated service to those over seas who wish to send and scatter their loved one’s remains in Ireland.

Matthew Bermingham and John McMahon from Querrin, both in their 90’s, featured on The Today Show this afternoon as over the weekend Querrin witnessed the launch of the SV Sally O’Keeffe. She is a 25 foot gaff-rigged wooden sailing vessel inspired by the traditional sailing turf boats that were common on the river Shannon in centuries gone by and was launched on Saturday from Querrin Pier. Matthew was given the honour of launching the new boat and Clare FM’s Stephen McDermott was on hand to talk to both
