Ciaran Austin, Director of Services with Console – Ireland’s suicide charity, spoke to Gavin about a new guidebook that was launched yesterday to help employers deal with the effects of suicide on employees today. It’s a collaborative piece of work between Console and the Irish Hospice Foundation. The guide provides practical tips on how an organisation can create a comprehensive bereavement policy for the workplace.

James Murphy, National Sheep Chairman with the Irish Farmers Association discussed a new awareness campaign for dog owners today – the first day of Spring. “Do you know where your dog is?”  This is the direct question the IFA has raised as part of a new public awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the responsibility of dog owners and the vulnerability of sheep flocks to dog attacks at this time of year.

World famous singer – Rebecca Storm spoke to the Today Show ahead of her upcoming concert at UCH. From the tender age of two, Rebecca Storm has always loved to sing and after studying music and drama, she formed her own band and toured England and Europe singing mainly folk & rock songs. At 23 years of age, she auditioned for her first musical show ‘Blood Brothers”. Gaining rave reviews, Rebecca was catapulted into the world of musical theatre, playing some of the most demanding roles ever written for leading ladies. Rebecca comes to the University Concert Hall, Limerick on Saturday February 11th.

Mick McLoughlin of the Ruan Community Play Group joined Gavin in studio to talk about the premier of a new film “Chocolate Wars” in Ruan.  He was joined by cast and crew members – Shauna Greene, Director (aged 12), Producer Ciaran O’Toole (aged 12), 1st Assistant Director Leanne O’Loughlin (aged 10) and actors Aine Shannon who plays “Jenny” and Conor Foley who plays “Johnny the Fox” – both are 8 years old.  On Friday night next the Play Group will hold the premier of “Chocolate Wars”.  The film has been entirely produced by the children attending the play group who are aged between 7 and 12 years of age.
