The Afternoon Show – Monday May 13th 2013

On Monday’s edition of The Afternoon Show Clare FM’s Gavin Grace was joined in studio by Stephen Walsh, Chairman of the Board of Clare Local Development Company. A major showcase celebrating 21 years of community-led development will take place in the West County Hotel this evening – The Banner Rising, a Clare Local Development Company (CLDC) event will highlight the many successes of community-led development in the county since the early 1990s. The large number of exhibitors will include community groups, local enterprises and various projects that have made a real difference on the ground.  Also taking part in the discussion were contributors to tonight’s event; Dr. Brendan O’Keeffe from the Geography Department at Mary Immaculate College, Fr. Harry Bohan, Sixmilebridge Parish Priest and former Ireland and Munster Rugby star Keith Wood.

We also featured another instalment of “Calling Home” where we met Miriam Landwehr (nee O’Dwyer). Miriam is a native of Quilty and swapped life in West Clare for Germany over 32 years ago. She spoke to Gavin about why she chose Germany, what her life there is like and how different it is from Clare. If you or a loved one is living abroad we’d love to hear their story – please contact [email protected]
