Three in a row

Clare go into this Wednesday's Munster final as defending champions and face arguably their toughest test of the past three years when they take on Tipperary in Thurles.

Tipp can count two All stars in their ranks while Clare will look to Darch Honan and the class of 2009 that remain for inspiration.

No one who attended the 2008 Munster final will ever forget the scenes of devastation at the final whistle as the county's first ever Munster title was ripped from Clare's grasp at the death.

Playing the game on your own terms

Monaghan will have learnt a harsh lesson today-there is a subtle but very real difference between adopting your tactics for your opponents and letting them destroy and hamper your own style of play.

Tyrone play a "total" football style of game and are rightly considered one of the best teams of the past 10 years and it takes little research to figure out what you will face when playing them.

However Monaghan clearly got too caught up in being defensive and thought they could limit the damage done by players like Sean cavanagh and Brian Dooher.

HARD TO BEAT THE DRAMA OF CHAMPIONSHIP

Phew!!!

What an incredible weekend of action from the drama of Croke Park and the debacle of Meath-Louth to  Clare celebrating their first minor title since 1989.

The Gaa this weekend showed all that was good and bad about its structure and playing ethos by highlighting the sacrifice and joy and drama that it can generate but also how issues such as refereeing and disipline and safety are somewhat neglected.

Firstly to the scenes in Croke Park and how the referee was left down by his umpires.

Coming up on tonight's Sideline View

The first of this years Clare County Board draws takes place live in studio.

We look ahead to this weekend's Senior and Minor hurling action.

And lots more sporting topics all on Sideline View this Friday evening at 6pm with Peter O Connell.

"Forwards win games and backs decide by how much"

You might recognise the above phrase often used to decribe rugby games but it could equally apply to Clare's senior footballers and their heartache this weekend only in reverse as backs win games and forwards decide by how much!

Clare led by 7 points entering the final 12 minutes of the game against Offaly yet the Faithful county managed to reel Clare in to be level after 70 minutes and then proceed to score 4 unaswered points at the start of the first period of extra time.

Feile Fever

So the Feile bandwagon rolls out of Clare leaving in its wake a feel good weekend which it will be hard to replicate.

Thousands of children and adults flocked to the county to enjoy a superb weekend of hurling, camogie and handball.

From Friday it was clear that Clare 2010 was going to be a special Feile and the boost that it will give the games will not be known for many years but one thing is certain that future All Ireland winners will have been witnessed and have played at some venues across county  Clare.

The Town I loved so well

And so Ennis and Eire Og sit proudly atop the county U21 hurling tree after a frankly incredible win over Sixmilebridge in a  final which see sawed between the two sides for long periods.

A first title since 1977 claimed in the most impressive of fashions and  all recent talk of Eire Og neglecting their underage and developemt duties has firmly been put in its place.
