Predators - Movie Review

Starring:    Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Laurence Fishburne

Directed:    Nimrod Atal

After a desperate showing at the box office with Alien vs. Predator and its even worse follow up, studio bosses at Fox have obviously shown a huge amount of faith to director Robert Rodriguez with this rebooted edition of Predator considering the amount of money spent on promotional material.

With a good cast including the likes of Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Laurence Fishburne and Rodriguez favourite Danny Trejo, this movie has everything in its mix need to be a success.

What we have here is an effort by Rodriguez to erase the badly written sequel Predator 2 and start afresh with a new storyline and a new cast.  Although Arnie himself was rumored to appear in this, he doesn’t by the way, there is a lot of talk about him making a return in the sequel to this which has already been green lit by Fox.

Following a group of mercenaries who enter the jungle on a routine mission and end up being hunted down and picked off by a group of space hunters who are merciless in their approach to foreign human invaders in their territory.

The action is fast paced and the blood count is quite considerable so be warned.  But in this day of reboots, rehashes and remakes, it’s refreshing to see something good come out of it.  Rodriguez again has proved himself to be a great director with an eye for a great set piece and Adrien Brody shines as the leader of this hunted party.

Good action and plenty of guns and you won’t spare a thought for Arnie after the first 5 minutes.
