Morning Focus Thursday April 11

The inquest into the death of Savita Hallapanavar is expected to hear more medical evidence today
The 31 year old died from septicaemia last October following a miscarriage at Galway University Hospital
Many of the key witnesses have already testified, such as Savita's husband Praveen Halappanavar and her consultant obstetrician Dr Katherine Astbury
The inquest has still to hear from the coroner's own expert witnesses which include a former master of the National Maternity Hospital, Dr Peter Boylan

The Health Minister is due to officially launch the new daycare centre at Carrigoran House, Newmarket on Fergus this afternoon during his visit to the county
Minister Reilly will also visit Ennis General, St Joseph’s Hospital, Ennis Family Medical Centre and Clarecastle District Day Care Centre.

Fire crews from across Clare battled for up to ten hours to bring a major gorse fire under control overnight
The blaze spread across hundreds of acres of scrubland between The Hand and Coore yesterday and also threatened a number of properties
A spokesperson for the Fire Services described it as one of the worst blazes they have dealt with in a number of years
Separately fire crews also attended 2 other gorse fires in East Clare yesterday at Ogonnelloe and Twomilegate

Minister Quinn says he doesn't want to tell management how to run schools, but he does want to see them follow guidelines on what NOT to do, when it comes to enrolment policies
