Garda wellbeing was one of the many topics up for discussion on the midweek edition of Morning Focus.

The GRA (Garda Representative Association) heard calls for extra safety equipment and training for Gardaí especially in the face of modern terrorism. Clare GRA representative, Paul Crowley discussed the situation with Gavin.

Speaking of Gardaí, a new initiative, Operation Respect, is being rolled out in Laois Offaly Garda Division to have Gardaí attend funerals to boost ties with local communities. Councillor John Clendennen of Offaly County Council discussed the initiative.

Next, Justin Moran of Age Action Ireland discussed the rising minimum age to claim the state pension.

Then the show heard more about insurance hikes causing difficulties for marts, festivals and other small businesses. This time the focus was on the Festival of Finn committee as Gavin talked to festival organizer, Martin Waldron.

Then Gavin and Cillian Murphy, owner of Murphy Black’s restaurant, Kilkee ask: should parents of bawling babies have to leave a restaurant?
