Morning Focus Wednesday 26th March

On Wednesdays Morning Focus; Marian began by speaking to Fiach Kelly Irish Times Political Correspondent about the revelations of secret recording of phone calls in Garda stations and fears that it could throw hundreds of criminal convictions into question.  The Government says that threat was behind its decision to establish a commission of inquiry into the practice – which has seen over 2-thousand-500 tapes come to light.  Justice Minister Alan Shatter will face intense scrutiny when he takes to his feet in the Dáil this morning.  He's due to discuss the fallout from the Garda Inspectorate report into the penalty point's scandal – as well as the phone call revelations which date back as far as the 1980s. Marian was also joined by Timmy Dooley, Clare Fianna Fáil TD and Martin Conway Clare Fine Gael Senator to get their views on the situation.

Up next David Glynn President of Kilrush Rugby Club spoke to Marian as The 6 nation's trophy is coming to Clare!!!  David has arranged with Michael Kearney for the cup to arrive down for the 13th of April.  The club has a blitz on that day which will see hundreds of children take part and see the cup. There will also be a BBQ for people there.  The 14th will see the cup travel around west Clare and visit as many children as possible.
