Also on a packed Morning Focus, Gavin spoke to Dr Micheál Collins, Assistant Professor of Social Policy at UCD about the difference between pay rates for company CEOs and the staff who work for them. That was on foot of revelations about pay of €10 million for the CEO of CRH.

The show then turned its attention to the controversial issue of the Northern Distributor Road, which has caused concern for some residents in South East Clare. The €150 million route is being backed by the President of LIT Vincent Cunnane who said it will create a ‘knowledge corridor’ connecting to the University of Limerick.

Martin McMahon, Clare County Chairperson of the ICMSA, was Gavin’s next guest on the show, addressing concerns the organisation has about a fresh scandal in the Brazilian meat production sector.

Students of Sports Management at LIT are launching a bid to create the world’s largest scrum to commemorate the late Antony (Axel) Foley. Gavin was joined on the line by Amy Brasil, one of those involved. Listen back below:

Ahead of a consultation event on a draft development plan for Holy Island on Lough Derg, Gavin was joined by Brian Carthy a senior planner with Clare County Council.
