The show then heard that Clare farmers are leaving the land. The latest Census shows a decline of around 1,000 in the number of farmers in the county. Gavin was joined on the line by Martin McMahon, Clare chairperson of the ICMSA who outlined the challenges in the sector.

Dr Susan Crawford was Gavin’s next guest. She joined the show, along with Dr Amita Shah, ahead of a workshop on Fundamental Movement being held in St Joseph’s Secondary School, Spanish Point tomorrow (Thurs. June 22) evening.

With temperatures soaring, we’ve all been flocking to Clare’s gorgeous beaches. One off duty lifeguard was relaxing himself when he and his sister were involved in a dramatic rescue. Bernard Cahill from Miltown Malbay told Gavin how they successfully saved a man at Spanish Point on Sunday evening last. Listen back below:

There was a special focus in today’s show on the Citizen’s Information Service. Gavin was joined in studio by Paul Woulfe who advised people on a range of entitlements and rights.

Averil Power, the CEO of the Asthma Society of Ireland was Gavin’s next guest. She had lots of useful tips and advice on handling hay fever as the pollen count soars.

One of Ireland’s oldest fairs gets underway tomorrow (Thurs. June 22) evening at Spancilhill. Pat Hannon of the Spancilhill Fair Association joined Gavin in studio to outline the highlights of this year’s event. Listen back below:

With just days to go to the closure of the ‘change of mind’ option for people applying through the CAO to go to college, Gavin was joined by Terry Twomey, Registrar of LIT. He had plenty of tips and advice about finalising choices for third-level courses.
