Morning Focus – Wednesday 18/10/17

The effects of Storm Ophelia on the Banner county’s more vulnerable residents was one of the main topics of Wednesday’s show and we also heard from a Kilmaley resident who met President Higgins in Perth.

Gavin spoke to Jackie Bonfield from the Midwest Simon Community and Sarah Clancy from the Public Participation Network on the issue of shelters available for the homeless during stormy weather. They also spoke about the lack of shelter or aid available for the Traveller community during storm crises.

The Public Health Alcohol Bill is due to be brought to the Dáil and Seanad in the coming weeks. Gavin spoke about this controversial legislation with Head of Communications & Advocacy, Alcohol Action Ireland Eunan McKinney and Patricia Callan Alcoholic Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI).
