Morning Focus – Tuesday 30th April 2019

On today’s Morning Focus we heard from all over Clare about local news and events that you could go to. We heard about the development of an historical centre at Terret Lodge, a new camp for Shannon Scout Group plus Seán Keane told us about his upcoming gigs in East Clare. Catch the best bits below:

First on the show, we heard about the possibility of the Irish Government introducing mandatory vaccines against illnesses such as measles, which saw a 200% increase in cases across Ireland in 2018.

Next on the show, Pat spoke to Lisa O’Sullivan, Chairperson of the Kilrush & District Historical Society, about an open evening tonight to discuss the development of a genealogy centre at Terret Lodge. The open evening will be attended by Clare County Council and they will also touch on the details of a project to create a WW1 Memorial in Kilrush. Pat spoke to Director Conall Morrison next, who is bringing Haughey Gregory to glór tomorrow evening. The play, which is staged by Fishamble Theatre, recounts what happened after TD Tony Gregory and Charles Haughey made a deal in 1982.

Singer-songwriter Seán Keane joined Pat in studio to talk about his upcoming gigs in Clare. He’s performing in The Falls Hotel on June 28th but this Friday he’ll be at Bodyke Church, for the village’s festival. Accordingly, Pat caught up with Liam Wiley, Chairoperson of Bodyke Festival.

Lastly on the show, Pat talked to Frankie Coote, Clare County Dog Warden for the latest animal welfare updates.
