Morning Focus – Tuesday 28/02/17

Tuesday’s Morning Focus Show with Gavin Grace saw a lot of hot topics discussed.

At 9am the show kicked off with a piece about Match Day parking in Ennis. Councillor Johnny Flynn, FG member of Ennis Municipal District, Clare County Council, talked to Gavin about the illegal parking and ticketing that happens during matches due to lacking of parking space availability.

Next, Deputy Timmy Dooley, FF TD for Clare, joined Gavin to talk about energy companies ‘gouging’ customers. Deputy Dooley called on the Energy Regulator to clarify why, when the wholesale cost of electricity had dropped by 39%, the consumer cost has only dropped by 3%.

Following that, Councillor Anne Norton, Mayor of Ennis, member of HSE West Regional Health Forum, spoke on the show about Children’s dental health.

At 10am, John Lowe, Independent Financial Advisor, talked about financial advice with Gavin.

After that, Gavin was joined by Conor Faughan, Director of Consumer Affairs, AA Ireland, and they spoke about the issues of speeding and motorway crashes.

Then Gavin was joined by Cancer sufferer Liam Moroney and CEO of Esophageal Cancer Fund, Noelle Ryan. They talked about the fund’s 16th annual lollipop day and the alarming, doubling rate of esophageal cancer in Ennis.

To finish up the second hour of the show, Clare County Dog Warden, Frankie Coote, joined Gavin.

At 11am, Gavin welcomed Ennis born, award winning actor and writer, Mark O’Halloran onto the show. They discussed the Ennis Book Club Festival.

Next, Gavin talked about Pancake Tuesday and the secret to a scrumptious pancake with Caroline Gardiner of Carrie’s Cakes, Ennis.

To finish the show, Gavin was joined by Teresa Carody-O’Shea and Nollaig MacNamara. They chatted about the Morning Focus Book Club’s latest read and the upcoming Ennis Book Festival.
