Tuesday’s Morning Focus heard from Tulla man, Gerry O’Loughlin who joined Gavin in studio with specialist nurse Fidelma Routeledge to speak about the loss of his wife Mary, to Motor Neurone Disease.

To raise funds for MND, a special céilí will take place at Cois na hAbhna, Ennis on November 4 with the Shandrum Céilí Band.

The show got off to a lively start with a North Clare Fine Gael councillor criticising the Taoiseach over the fact there’ll be no free vote on new and tougher drink driving rules.

Cllr Bill Slattery (FG) from Ennistymon was Gavin’s first guest and he expressed his reservations about plans to automatically ban drivers found to be over the limit.

Next up was the issue of pensions. An anomaly means many Irish women are having their pensions docked each week. Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND) from Shannon told Gavin he’s outraged at the situation which affects his wife and other tens of thousands of women.

Talk then turned to compensation for those affected by recent storms. Gavin spoke with Clarecastle native, Liam Moloney, who is a solicitor in Naas. Mr Moloney explained why some insurance companies are considering suing local authorities and other agencies.

We heard from the Money Doctor, John Lowe who gave tips on how to manage your money and answered your questions.

Gavin then heard from the team behind the Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk. At an event tomorrow (Weds. Oct 25) night in Killaloe, details of the 2018 fundraising event will be unveiled. Gavin heard from from Community fund raiser Lorraine Toner. The event will also hear from researchers on the work that’s done with the funds raised. Michelle Lowry will be among them and she spoke to Gavin about her ground-breaking work.
