Chairperson of the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee and Clare TD Pat Breen is in Egypt this week visiting Ibrahim Halawa. The Irish teenager The Irish teenager has been imprisoned in Cairo for almost two years – he was arrested during protests in the Egyptian Capital in August 2013. The committee had requested that the entire group be allowed visit the 19 year old – however Egyptian authorities have instead given permission to Pat Breen as Chair, and an advisor. Earlier this morning Pat Flynn spoke to Pat about his experiences in Cairo.

Next, Amnesty International Campaign and Activism Officer Kieran Clifford joined us on the line regarding the case of Ibrahim Halawa.

Thousands of taxpayers who significantly undervalued their homes in property tax returns face being targetted by Revenue. As many as 250,000 homeowners declared the value of their properties to be as much as €100,000 below th eguide price. John O'Connor of Revenue, Kilrush Road, Ennis had more on this.

Two young Irish people have won gold medals in the WorldSkills competition in Brazil. Roz Wynne from Sixmilebridge took the top prize in the aircraft maintanance category while Aline Sile from Bunratty scooped gold in the restaurant services section. Eight other Itish Competitors wom medallions of  excellence during the four days of competition, placing Ireland 11th out of 60 countries. The team of 14 apprentices, all under 25 years of age, were in full-time training under the direction of their coaches for eight weeks leading up to the competition. Ireland's top craft beer breweries and bluegrass and roots musicians will participate in the 2015 Doolin Craft Beer & Roots Festival, which gets underway this Friday. The largest event of its kind outside of Dublin will be hosted on the grounds of Hotel Doolin in County Clare until Sunday night. Featuring pub music sessions and stalls hosting food produce from throughout the Burren region, the Doolin Craft Beer & Roots Festival is aimed promoting awareness of new and established independent Irish breweries. Donal Minihane of Hotel Doolin and Aidan Murphy Head Brewer Galway Hooker both joined us on the line. 

Country music star Lee Matthews in Ennis today and he's dropped into studio. Lee has plenty of reason to celebrate recently. Not only did the talented singer songwriter scoop the Award for Best New Band at the start of this year at the prestigious Sunday World Country Music Awards in Dublin, but he also picked up the Award for Song of the Year for his number one smash hit'Cotton Eye Joe' at The Hot Country TV Music Awards.
