On Thursdays Morning Focus, John Spoke to Kilrush Councillor Ian Lynch who has decided to leave Fine Gael and run in the local elections as an Independent candidate.

Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton joined John to talk about the new plan labelled ‘The Youth Guarantee’, which is aimed at improving employment prospects for young people.  Minister Burton also spoke about the Job Bridge programme.

 Cillian Griffey, an Ennis Fine Gael local elections candidate.  Cillian got a job with a Lahinch based company through Job Bridge and thinks it is worthwhile.  Meanwhile Moira Murphy also joined the debate.  Moira is a graduate from Kilshanny College, has been unemployed for over a year and is part of the We’re Not Leaving Group who are calling for an end to Job Bridge.

 John was joined in studio by Nessa Sexton from Miltown Malbay and Ann Murphy from Tulla, to discuss a new Slainte an Chlair publication ‘A Cancer Journey Guide For County Clare’.

 Both Nessa and Ann are Cancer survivors.  They told John about a new booklet developed by Clare Cancer Support Center and how it can help people through their cancer journey.  It provides tips based on the personal experience of members of the group.

 Hundreds of people have been waiting out in the elements all night to secure Garth Brooks tickets.  Clare FM’s Mairead Collins spoke to some of the people waiting outside the Irish Shop in Ennis waiting in line.

 Finally resident vet John Underhill from Burren Vets joined John in studio to discuss animal queries from around Clare.
