On Thursday’s edition of Morning Focus, Pat hosted the ‘Ask the GP’ segment with Dr Máire Finn of the Ennis Family Medical Centre. Together they addressed any medical queries posed to them by Morning Focus listeners.

To kick off the show, Pat spoke with Independent TD, Dr Michael Harty. They discussed the 8th referendum and the campaigning that is due to get underway today (Thursday 29th March).

Following that, Ingrid Wallace, senior therapist at Rape Crisis Midwest, joined Pat to talk about the lessons that should be learned from the Belfast rape trial and the effect that the trial has had on other victims and the general public.

Next, Ennis Councillor, Ann Norton who also runs the Clare Crusaders organisation, spoke with Pat about the ‘in loco parentis’ clause that is badly affecting sick children.

At the beginning of the second hour of the show, Pat hosted the ‘Ask the GP’ segment.

Then, Pat chatted with, Aileen browne of the Irish Blood Transfusion Services Board, Brendan Cusack from Lisdoonvarna who has donated blood 100 times, and Dermot Moloney, who has also donated blood 100 times.

Recently 170 donors from across the Mid West region were acknowledged for their long term commitment to the service.

After that, Eavan Brennan, actor and midwifery student at UL, joined Pat to talk about the Limerick Fringe Festival and her work ‘Get the Boat’ that tackles the topical issue of abortion.

Moving towards the end of the show, Pat spoke with Brian Meaney, a former member of Clare County Council, Brian McManus of Clare Comhairle na nÓg and Clare Youth Service and he also spoke with Marco Messori and Alexander Navarro of the Comhairle.

They discussed Senator Fintan Warfield’s proposal to make the legal voting age 16 ahead of the 2019 local and European elections.

Next, Pat was joined by Áine Mae O’Mahony, a transplant recipient who is currently recovering from a double transplant. She wishes to highlight ‘Donor Awareness Week’.

To round off the show, Clare FM’s Elina Kovale, went out into the streets of Ennis to talk to people about their chocolate Easter egg obsession. It’s estimated that over 5 million Easter eggs will be consumed by Irish children over the holidays.

While many were happy to admit that they would be indulging in some chocolate this season, not many realised how much sugar they would actually be consuming with 23 teaspoons of sugar in the average Easter egg.
