Morning Focus – Thursday 09/11/17

Thursday’s edition of Morning Focus was as lively mix of news and views.

The show opened with an interview with Brian Carthy from Clare County Council on the issue of boosting marine tourism in Clare. It comes as Clare has been included in the ‘Cool Route’ maritime marketing project.

The issue of paternal leave was next up for discussion, with news that 619 fathers have availed of the facility in this county, since its introduction last September.

The topic of suicide was then discussed ahead of a Safe Talk training course taking place in Cloughleigh on Monday, November 20. Pat was joined in studio by Cllr Mary Howard and by Mary Kennedy, Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention with the HSE. Listen back below:

Scariff Community School are to stage ‘Mamma Mia’ from tonight (Nov 9) to Sunday night. Ahead of the production, Pat was joined in studio by teacher Shane Hayes (of Socks in the Frying Pan) and by members of the show’s cast. Listen back below:

A new Atlantic Community Sports Hub is to be launched in Lahinch on Sunday next (Nov 12). Ahead of that, Pat was joined in studio by Joe Garrihy, John Sweeney and Denis Creedon. Listen back below:

Then, ahead of remembrance services for Clare’s war dead, Pat was joined in studio by Dr Keir McNamara, Canon Bob Hana and Fr Tom Hogan.

Entertainment events in Clare were then the focus of discussion. With ‘Sive’ being staged in Kilfenora, Pat spoke with director and PP, Fr Ned Crosby.

After that, Pat was joined by James Whelan, star of a show called ‘TWO’ which is coming to Corofin Community Hall next Saturday.
