On today’s Morning Focus, Gavin spoke to the CEO of UL Hospitals Group, Colette Cowan and Maria Bridgeman, Chief Officer, HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare about the UHL Winter Plan.

The opening of a new MRI service at University Hospital Limerick (UHL) in Mid-December is a major component of the joint UL Hospitals Group (ULHG) and HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare Winter Plan for 2019-20, which includes a range of measures aimed at helping people to stay well, and to stay as close to their homes as possible this winter.  But with significant overcrowding in Dooradoyle already this year, how difficult a winter is in store?

Clare’s Green Party Councillor, Roisin Garvey is to run in the upcoming General Election here. The Inagh-based local representative was elected in the Ennistymon Electoral District in May’s local elections, her first time to seek an elected position. With nine candidates now confirmed, Roisin spoke to Gavin about her decision to run for national office.

Dr Toby Sachsenmaier was in studio for the regular Parenting Advice slot. She was replying to a letter from a listener. The listener has a 10 year old son who has effectively been dropped by his friends. The young boy is feeling sad at the moment and it is casting a shadow over the family.

A Concert of Remembrance for deceased friends, family members and loved ones who have died is taking place in Cloghleigh Community Centre on Friday at 7.45pm. Ahead of the concert, Gavin spoke to singer/songwriter Kieran Goss who is headlining along with his wife Annie Kinsella. Other acts performing will be Damien Gormley, The Citizens and Siobhan Peoples.

Clare County Arts Officer, Siobhan Mulcahy came along to give Gavin a round-up of events in the arts scene around the county. It’s a busy scene with Musical Theatre, Music, Literature, Visual Art and Film events happening right around the county.
