Morning Focus – Monday,15th April 2019

On today’s Morning Focus, we had everything from the future of Moneypoint Power Station, where to go if you don’t go to Mass, efforts to get more defibrillators in Ennis and our regular segments Garda Focus and the Sports Panel. Catch all the best bits below:

First on the show, we heard from Dep Pat Breen about the future of Moneypoint Power Station Ireland’s largest electricity generation station and only coal-fired power station. There is a commitment that coal-burning will cease at Moneypoint by 2025 but there are concerns about the future of the power station and its 400 workers.

Then on the show, Clare FM’s Fiona McGarry was talking to an Ennis businessman about anti-social behaviour in the town and why it is damaging trade. He’s calling for a greater police presence.

Next up, the Student Enterprise Programme is an annual competition to find students who can come up with the best business idea in the country. Clare FM’s Grace Kieran attended the Clare County Finals to speak to some of the young entrepreneurs as well as key members of the Local Enterprise Office, who organise the event.

After the news, Sgt Tríona O’Rourke was in studio to tell us the latest about Crime in Clare.

Psychologist Susannah Healy joined us in studio next to talk about where to go if you don’t go to Mass. Healy’s new book The Seven Day Soul is centered around mindfulness and how to keep it up in the modern world. Listen back to find out more:
