Morning Focus – Monday 31/07/2017

Monday’s Morning Focus was busy as usual, with local news taking the reigns. The show began with a round up of what’s in the papers followed by a chat between Gavin and manager of the Galway Races Michael Moloney about the festival.

Next up was David O’Sullivan of the Marine Institute in Oranmore, who was the chief scientist involved in an exhibition which discovered cold water coral reefs off the Clare coast. You can listen back to the interview with David in full below:

After David was a piece from Clare FM’s Fiona McGarry, who was at the protest in Ennistymon about Blake’s Corner, speaking to a number of protesters about what they feel has to be done to solve the traffic problem. You can listen back to Fiona’s piece below:

Sgt. Joe Downey then joined Gavin in studio to do a round up of local crimes that the Gardaí are appealing for information for and he also spoke about plans ahead of the 2017 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis. You can listen to Sgt. Downey’s interview below:

Gavin then spoke to our Monday Sports Panel, which was made up of Clare FM’s Derrick Lynch and Eoin Brennan from the Clare People, who had a look back at the weekend’s sporting action. You can listen to the Sports Panel below:

To finish up the show, Aisling Hunt, Conor O’Loughlin and Conor Arkins, who are Clare members of the Legacy concert orchestra joined Gavin in studio to talk about the Legacy concert which will be taking place during the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and finished up by playing a few reels.
