Morning Focus – Monday 26/02/18

There was disappointment in Clare as Mullagh’s Marty Morrissey was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars.

Marty and his dance partner Ksenje were among Gavin’s guests as the hugely popular GAA correspondent bowed out of the show. Listen back below:

To open the show, Gavin spoke to a Lisdoonvarna resident, John O’Donnell, about the proposed asylum centre in Lisdoonvarna and the concerns surrounding it.

Then, Gavin spoke to Willie Hanrahan, Clare County Chairperson at the Irish Farmer’s Association, about the public’s reaction to the IFA settlement with the former General Secretary, Pat Smith.

At 10 am, Gavin hosted the Garda Focus segment with Sergeant Joe Downey, Clare Crime Prevention Officer.

Following that, Clare FM’s Ben Sweeney reported on the work that the Corbett Suicide Prevention group do.

Then, Leo Clancy, head of Technology, Consumer & Business Services at IDA Ireland , chatted with Gavin about the Midwest Limerick for Engineering Showcase, which will take place on March 1st in Shannon Airport from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Next, Gavin invited Dr David Fleming, Lecturer in History & course director of the MA in local history in the University of Limerick onto the show. They talked about whether the Mass rock is a myth or reality ahead of Dr David Fleming’s presentation at the Courthouse Gallery in Ennistymon tonight (Monday, February 26th) at 8 pm.
