Morning Focus – Monday 14/05/18

Monday’s Morning Focus celebrated the launch of an exciting new digital education package for primary schools.

The launch of the series of ‘Tales of Craggaunowen’ is marked by a competition for pupils to write their own stories of battle and adventure. Gavin was joined by Marie Slattery, Head of Marketing with Shannon Heritage.

The show opened with a discussion of Traveller encampments around Ennis. Gavin heard some concerns from Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy (FF) who says the council is working with those involved.

Then, Gavin spoke with Ian Lumley of An Taisce who is making a presentation on climate change to Clare County Council.

Clare FM’s Ben Sweeney was up early last Saturday morning to attend the Darkness into Light event in Sixmilebridge. He compiled a special report for the show.

After that, Gavin was joined by MEP Deirdre Clune (FG) who spoke to him about a range of issues, including Brexit and measures to support those in the workplace who’ve been diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

As always on a Monday, Gavin discussed the big sports news of the weekend. On today’s show he was joined in studio by Eoin Brennan of the Clare People and, on the phone, by Jim Madden, Munster FAI delegate.
