Morning Focus – Monday 09/09/19

Monday’s Morning Focus heard from an inspirational lady, in the person of Ennistymon’s Margaret Donovan.

Margaret joined Gavin, alongside Mary Flanagan from the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board to discuss how literacy support and training changed her life.

The show opened with a return to controversy on the Clonroad More in Ennis. Schools have returned and residents feel their concerns over the impact of traffic calming and cycle lanes have been proven valid. Gavin went out to meet some of those affected.

Also featuring on today’s show was Cúl Chaint presenter Domhnall Ó Lionsigh. The Príomhoide of Coláiste Ui Comhraidhe in Carrigaholt told Gavin why he’s passionate about securing government support for the facility.

As always on Mondays Gavin was joined for Garda Focus by Sgt Tríona O’Rourke, Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer.

Then, Michelle Nagle of Clean Ireland Recycling joined Gavin to mark the company’s 30 years at the forefront of waste management.

After that, Gavin heard from Brendan Cunningham of the Samaritans in Ennis. He told Gavin that Samaritans Ennis and Clare Branch is encouraging people to get involved with the charity to give something back to the local community and make a difference to people’s lives.
