Morning Focus – Monday 08/08/17

Tuesday’s show was fast-paced and busy with a check in on the weekend’s fatal stabbing in Kilkee, as well as analysis of sports action and a look ahead to the All-Ireland Fleadh.

Cathal McMahon from the Irish Independent was Gavin’s first guest. He updated listeners on the fatal stabbing in Kilkee at the weekend and the ongoing Garda investigation.

Supports for those experiencing mental health challenges was the next topic for discussion with Dr John Hillery from Spanish Point telling Gavin that calling for more action. The President of the Irish College of Psychiatrists told Gavin he wants to see the recommendations of the Vision for Change Document on mental health implemented in full.

After a chat about the fantastic win by the Clare Ladies in the All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship, Caoimhe Harvey was named Sports Star of the Month.

Fr Kevin McNamara a Cooraclare native who is Parish Priest of Moyvane spoke to Gavin about his broadcasting complaint against the Late Late Show, which was recently rejected.
