Today on Morning Focus our Friday Panel joined us in studio to discuss the latest news for the past week!
Our Panelists included Verena Tarpey of Rape Crisis Midwest, Tony Kileen, former Minister of Defence and Martin Waldron, owner and proprietor of Crafts Works and Craft Shop, Ennis. This week the panel discussed overcrowding in UHL as it reached a record-breaking amount of patients on trolleys, the farmer’s protests in Dublin briefly mentioned the Toy Show and Black Friday!

Before that we spoke to Eamon Corley, Co Chair of the Beef Plan Movement as last night a producer organisation meeting was held to discuss the beef issue amongst farmers.
Next on the show, Orla Ní Fhéilí of Clare Immigrant Support joined us on the line to discuss how Direct Provision in Ireland is worsening. There are over 700 people living in Direct Provision despite being granted legal status to live in Ireland. The Government is planning to house asylum seekers in new direct provision centres across the state, however, this may take a couple of years as of now asylum seekers are left to find accommodation in hotels.
Next on Morning Focus, our very own Paula Carol and Leonard McDonagh Chair of Cuimhneamh an Chláir joined Pat in studio as Cuimhneamh an Chláir celebrates its 10th anniversary this Sunday the first of December! In Waterhouse Park this Sunday there will be an event to mark this occasion as it will look back at 10 years of oral history collecting in the country. Tea, cake, stories, songs and more – all are welcome!
To wrap up today’s edition of Morning Focus, Eleanore Shanley and John McCartin of Garadice joined Pat in studio ahead of their gig in glór tomorrow evening (Sat 30 Nov).
Garadice is a crew of fine musicianship who present beautiful arrangements of songs and tunes, some original and some of which have not been played for over 200 years.
