The show opened with concerns over the uptake of a personal alarm scheme for older people. They follow two recent court cases over vicious attacks on the elderly. Gavin was joined by CEO of Muintir na Tíre and Inagh native Niall Garvey, who has secured a pledge from the government to do more to publicise the alarm scheme.

Next up was a discussion about the ongoing traffic problems at Blake’s Corner in Ennistymon. Ahead of a protest in the town on Friday evening (July 28), Gavin heard from Lahinch CC, Fr Des Forde and from Joe McInerney of McInerney’s Pub in the town. Listen back below:

The show then heard about what dentists are warning is a crisis in oral healthcare. Fintan Hourihan
Chief Executive, Irish Dental Association (IDA)spoke to Gavin about new CSO statistics which reveal that the number of HSE funded treatments under the Dental Treatment Service Scheme have fallen by over 16 percent between 2013 and 2016.

The show wrapped up with a chat with Padraic Slattery the captain of Lahinch Golf Club, who told Gavin about the South of Ireland Golf Championship; and with a conversation with Michael Cassidy, Director of the Dan Furey Set Dancing Weekend in Labasheeda.
