Morning Focus – Friday 23/06/17

The Friday edition of Morning Focus was packed with news, music and chat with our Friday Panel.

The show opened with a chat with journalist Karlin Lillington of the Irish Times who is warning against spreading responsibilities too thinly in new portfolio held by Clare’s Junior Minister Pat Breen. His responsibilities now include data protection, as well as other roles related to jobs – in total he’s reporting to four Ministers.

Gavin then spoke to Mike Allen Head of Advocacy with Focus Ireland whe gave his reaction to news that government targets on social housing will not be met.

Cllr Paul Murphy is the new Mayor of Ennis after the AGM of that Municipal District yesterday (Thurs. June 22). He told Gavin why he feels it’s an honour to take on the role and why he’s determined to further the issue of mental health support:

Rugby legend Keith Wood was Gavin’s next guest. He gave Gavin his take on the Lions first test against New Zealand on Saturday (June 24).

The relic of Padré Pio will come to Ennis Cathedral on Saturday, July 1 from 1.30-4pm. Gavin was joined for more detail by Fr Brendan Quinlivan, Communications Officer with the Diocese of Killaloe.

Siobhán Mulcahy was in studio for her weekly arts round up, discussing a range of activities across Clare.
