The show opened with a look at a developing story arising out of Budget 2018. Gavin was joined on the line by the News Editor of the Farmer’s Journal, Patrick Donohue, who told him that the government could be about to make changes to proposed reform of stamp duty for commercial lands, to reduce the impact on agricultural land transactions.

Talk then turned to the subject of community service. Gavin heard from Fíona Ni Chinnéide of the Irish Penal Reform Trust. That organisation is calling on judges to opt for this over custodial sentences, where possible.

The show also made a special appeal on behalf of Elizabeth a listener who lost a very special pendant made from her late husband’s wedding ring. She’s anxious for any information on the item which was lost in Ennistymon a year ago:

With a tropical storm named Ophelia on the way to these shores, Gavin got more information from Met Éireann who said we’re in for storm weather early next week.

Domhnall Ó Lionsaigh of Cúl Caint and Príomhoide of Coláiste Eoghain Ui Chomhraidhe was Gavin’s next guest to discuss funding allocated in Budget 2018 for the Irish language. Listen back below:

Siobhán Mulcahy presented her weekly Arts Round-up and the show then heard about events around the county for the coming weekend.

The Friday Panel this week were Michael Vaughan, Clare Fletcher-Burke and Mary Ellen Fean. Listen back below:

The show rounded off with a chat with singing superstar Imelda May. Listen back below:
