Morning Focus – Friday 08/11/19

Today on Morning Focus we were joined by our Friday Panel, Brian Meaney, Former Green Party, and latterly FF member of Clare County Council, Rita McInerney, Doonbeg Businesswoman, FF candidate in next General Election and Darragh McAllister, Ennis based publican, Chair of Clare VFI.

Our panel discussed the latest news stories from the week, remembering Gay Byrne, the Latte-Levy, the call for a national debate on Asylum-seekers in Ireland and the new Shannon Airport routes announced by Aer Lingus this week.

Before that Dep. McGrath, Fianna Fáil Finance Spokesperson joined us on the line ahead of his visit to Ennis this Sunday, addressing local Fianna Fáil members at their annual De Valera commemoration. The party will also honour their three retired Councillors on Sunday (Cllrs Richard Nagle, Michael Hillery and Tom McNamara).

Next on the show, we heard from John Slattery, President and Chief Executive of Brazil-based Embraer Commercial Aviation as he is home this week to showcase the E195-E2 passenger jet, his company’s largest-ever commercial aircraft.

Next on the show, David Foundy a representative for the Inagh-Kilnamona GAA Club joined us on the line to tell us about their upcoming fundraiser, The Chaser at Treacy’s West County Hotel in Ennis this Saturday, Nov 8th. Tickets are selling fast and no tickets are available on the night, they must be prepurchased. Family tickets are €50 and single tickets are €20.

To wrap up today’s show Blackie O’Connell, Musician and Ennis Trad Fest Organiser, joined us in studio as the Ennis Trad Fest began yesterday the 7th of Nov and the festivities are set to continue until this Sunday, Nov 11th.
