Morning Focus – Tuesday 05/06/18

What a load of rubbish!? This morning’s show began with Councillor Alan O’Callaghan discussing his frustration with the illegal dumping all around East Clare.

Then, cuts to the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy), Gavin talked to Amy Forde, News Correspondent for the Irish Farmers Journal and Willie Hanrahan, Clare County Chair for the IFA (Irish Farmers’ Association) about what this means for farmers nationwide.

Rounding out the hour, we heard from Eoin Whelan from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Who do we marry and why? According to the last Census finding love in the workplace is quite common as people tend to marry people of the same occupation.

Heading into the second hour we had our Garda update from Sergeant Joe Downey.

Next on the show, X-Factors stars Seán and Conor Price discussed balancing fame and concerts with exams, school and the everyday.

Then, we heard from Valerie Hogan of Clare Family Support. She detailed the workshops for kids available this June. The workshops aim to help kids better navigate the real and online worlds in our current modern era.

Finally, Dr. Ros Ó Maoldúin, Site Director for The Irish Fieldschool of Prehistoric Archaeology discussed the school’s upcoming summer lecture series for 2018. Lectures are set to discuss everything from using DNA to study the past to prehistoric murders and fairy curses.
