This morning’s show began on a somber note as we all try to get to grips with the tragic passing of Jack Kenneally and Shay Moloney.

Sergeant Joe Downey, Councillor Mary Howard and Eamon Connaughton, U15 Manager at Ennis Rugby Club all shared their deepest condolences with the show. Ennis Community College and St.Flannan’s Secondary School also issued a statement outlining students and staff’s condolences.

Next on the show, Clarecare a former adoption provider in Clare commented on the recent St.Patrick’s Guild adoption scandal where adoptive parents were named on birth certificates rather than birth parents. Gavin talked to Fiacre Hensey, General Manager of Clarecare about the issue.

Starting the second hour of the show, we posed the question: how you can get your book published? Niall Allsop, an Ennis based author, talked about his launch of ClareBooks, an original publishing project aiming to help author’s publish non-fiction titles.

Then, Siobhán Mulcahy, Clare County Arts Officer was in studio to tell us all about the latest events and exhibits around the county.

The hour rounded off with Gavin speaking with the newest Rose of Clare, Clara Burke from Cooraclare. She teaches in Shannon. She discussed her prospects of snatching the crown come this year’s Rose of Tralee pageant.

Going into the final hour our Friday Panel was made up of Ciana Campbell, Broadcaster and Communications Specialist, Diarmaid McMahon, Managing Director of Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon and William Cahir of Cahir and Co. Solicitors. The panel discussed spiraling insurance costs and pop music being depressing but of course before all that they discussed Friday’s historic referendum.

Finally, ending the show for this week was Brian Dunphy a singer with the highly acclaimed folk group: The High Kings. He talked about the group’s Tenth Anniversary Tour and their concert in Killaloe on Friday, June 8.
