Morning Focus – Friday 27/10/17

Starting of our Friday programme of Morning Focus we had Deirdre Clune, MEP of Ireland South on the line to discuss her view of how we should put an end to Daylight Saving.

Gavin spoke to Clare Councillors Johnny Flynn and James Breen on whether Clare County Council should purchase Our Lady’s Hospital on the Gort Road.

We had a discussion before this year’s Senior Football County Final which will see Kilmurry Ibrickane and Clondegad to battle in the hopes of claiming the Jack Daly Cup. Gavin and Clare FM’s Derrick Lynch spoke representatives of both clubs Martin Brennan & Brian McNeillis from Clondegad GAA Club and Odrain O’Dwyer, & John Brew of Kilmurry Ibrickane Club about this weekend’s exciting match.

This year’s Willie Keane Memorial Weekend in Doonbeg is the 17th annual memorial festival of song, music and of course, dancing. Tommy Comerford told us more on this on today’s show.

We had our weekly Arts Round-up with Clare Conty Arts Officer Siobhán Mulcahy and following this our Events Round-up where we heard about Éire Ógs Halloween disco,Twelve O’Clock Hills Ghost Train and a Pink Angel Halloween Fundraiser.

For our final hour we had our Friday Panel in studio, featuring Patricia McCarthy of Property & Relocation Services , Douglas Hurley of DNG O’Sullivan Hurley and Brian Meaney, former member of Clare County Council. The sentencing of Tom Humphries, the Tracker Mortgage Scandal, Local Economy matters and Marriage Advice were among the topics discussed.
