Morning Focus, presented today by Pat Flynn, heard first from Shaun Cunniffe a member of Galway County Council and member of the lobby group Keep Gaelic Games Free for Air. He voiced his concern at news that the Clare v Limerick Munster Senior Hurling Final is to be screened exclusively by Sky Sports.

Pat Griffin was the next guest on the show. He’s a Senior Inspector with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and told Pat about 500 farm inspections happening over the coming months with a view to improving safety around livestock.

Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) is to host a Games Fleadh next week (Wednesday, March 8) in a bid to boost the gaming industry and games development in Ireland. Pat was joined on the line by Dr Liam Noonan, Game Design and IT Development Lecturer with LIT.

Dr Máire Finn from the Ennis Family Medical Centre joined Pat for the weekly ‘Ask the GP’ slot. She discussed the pros and cons of taking vitamin supplements.

Pat’s next guests were Emer O’Flaherty winner of the Pan Celtic Song Contest and Bríd de Róiste, Cathaoirleach of the Pan Celtic Music Festival, 2017. Emer won the prestigious award for her song ‘Tabhaise’, which will now go forward to the International pan Celtic Song Contest.

Eva Hayes from Kilrush then joined Pat on the line to discuss her role in an ‘agri-food debate’ on Brexit. Eva is a student of Agricultural Science at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).

Artist Marie Connole them joined Pat in studio to discuss her work and the inspiration she takes from North Clare myth and legend, particularly that of Cill Stiopháin in Liscannor Bay.

Next in studio were poets Martin Vernon and Frank Golden who will launch collections at the Ennis Book Club Festival.

As Chapel Lane Market in Ennis marks two successful years, Pat was joined in studio by Cllr Mary Howard and Jo Whyte of Celtic Fairy Doors.

Jackie Bonfied of Midwest Simon then joined Pat on the line to preview a fundraising ‘sleep out’ event in Ennistymon by members of the coastguard service.
