The midweek edition of Morning Focus heard about a newly opened scheme to fund community projects for those living close to the Moneypoint power station.

Gavin heard from Majella McCarron, ESB Stakeholder Manager, about the scheme which will accept applications up to March 16 for projects under the heading of health, culture, education, social inclusion, etc. Listen back below:

Wednesday’s show opened with news from this week’s meeting of the Shannon Municipal District where Cllr Mike McKee raised his ongoing concerns about anti-social behaviour.

Next, the show continued to get the views of Clare Oireachtas members on the contentious issue of abortion. Gavin spoke today with Deputies Timmy Dooley (FF) and Joe Carey (FG).

Joining Gavin next was hotelier Michael Vaughan who outlined his frustration with the wait for repairs to broadband services.

Then Martin McMahon of the ICMSA told Gavin why farmers here are increasingly worried about a fodder crisis.

The Molly case was discussed then with Catherine Bond, CEO of the Irish Foster Care Association.

Roisín Garvey from Ennistymon then joined Gavin to discuss her experiences bringing aid donations to migrant camps in northern France. It cames as President Emmanuel Macron held talks on the issue with UK Prime Minister Teresa May.

Aodhán Ó Riordán of the Labour Party then joined Gavin to discuss his concerns over single-sex schools. Listen back below:

Mary Jo Parker of Innopharma Education then told Gavin of an exciting new free training programme for those with Science degrees who’ve never been able to use them. They’re now being invited to upskill to work in the biopharma and medical devices sector. Listen back below:
