An Ennis-based retail lobby group says it’s vital that the EU secures an extension to the Brexit date, so that retailers here can breath a sigh of relief.
Retail Excellence Ireland has welcomed last night’s vote by MPs in the House of Commons, which has effectively ruled out a no-deal scenario.
They’re to vote again tonight on a proposal to extend the departure date beyond March 29th, with the President of the European Council stating he is “open to a long extension” to Brexit, while the Tánaiste says a 21 month extension is “a possibility”.
The DUP, meanwhile, is calling for a deal that doesn’t leave Northern Ireland behind, but that also works for the Republic.
