Fear That Beef Sector Is Critical Regardless Of Emergency Funding

The Clare chair of the Beef Plan Group fears the beef industry is still in critical danger, despite the promise of emergency funding in a no-deal Brexit.

Britain has confirmed that tariffs will apply on agri-food imports if they crash out of the union with no deal, which would cost €800 million to Ireland’s beef sector.

To offset this, Tánaiste Simon Coveney says the EU will provide funding to support Irish agriculture, in an attempt to limit the damage.
