Claims Diagnoses Mistakes Natural Consequence Of Staffing Issues

Clare’s Independent TD says mistakes with serious diagnoses for patients will be an issue until we address the problem of recruiting qualified staff.

It’s after a HSE report revealed that 11 patients had their cancer diagnoses delayed at University Hospital Kerry and four have since died, after a review of 46,000 of radiology scans.

It was ordered after three serious events were identified involving a locum consultant – one working temporarily – who has since left the facility.
