Claims Harsh Winter Wiped Benefit Of Increased Farm Incomes

Fresh fears have been expressed about the future of farming here despite a rise in farm incomes over the past year.

Teagasc’s latest National Farm Survey shows the average farm income reached a record high of over 31,300 euro, a 32% increase on 2016.

But Dairy farmers fared the best, with average incomes jumping by 65% to just over 86,000 euro, while incomes on cattle or sheep farms were far lower at between 12,600 and 16,600.
